3 Months!!

Sage turned 3 Months old on July 29!

Ryan and I can't believe Sage is 3 months already! Our lives have changed in ways we planned for and ways we didn't. One thing we can say is that the last three months have been the best three months of our lives. We could not imagine life without Sage. He is the love of our lives and we can't wait to see how he changes and grows in the next three months! He brings so much joy to everyone he meets. His smile can brighten my day in seconds!

Some three month info
He sleeps through the night!!! Bed time is 8:30 and he wakes between 7&8 (normally)
He eats 6 ounces of formula about every 3 to 4 hours
He hasn't mastered napping yet. Still sleeps off and on about an hour after eating
He loves light up toys
He loves smiling at his parents and grandparents
We havn't decided if he really likes the pool yet
He does love bath time
He is starting to grab at mobiles
He hates it when the sun gets in his eyes (like his daddy)

We love him so much! Happy 3 Months Sage!!

Sunday

Sage sat in his Bumbo chair today for the first time!

Then we took Sage on a walk to see Katie, Philip and Lia. This was his first time to ride in his stroller without the car seat on top! He looks so small in it

Then we went swimming for a while. Not sure he likes it yet.

The pictues are in reverse order. It won't let me move my pictures anymore. They just come up as a string of letters. Anyone know how to fix that?

Sage meets Lia!!

One of my best friends, Katie Cato, had a daughter a week ago. Her name is Lia and she is precious! She had trouble breathing at first, but Katie and Philip got to take her home Monday evening. I took Sage over to meet Lia Tuesday afternoon. They were instant friends. At least we hope so! Jessica, Danny, and Colt came with Ryan, Sage, and I that night to have dinner with the new family. We didn't take any pictures (I know crazy right!) We will have many pictures with the three babies soon! It's so great that a bunch of my friends are starting their families right now. I just love watching them all grow up together. Here are some of my pictures from the afternoon! Look at her thick hair! I love it!

Colorado Trip

Sage went on his first trip this past week. Ryan, Sage, and I along with my Mom flew up to Colorado to meet my Dad. We stayed from Wednesday to Sunday. It was a great trip. The weather was perfect. We actually got to take Sage outside. Living in Houston, Sage doesn't ever get to spend a lot of time outside. It's WAY too HOT! He was outside a bunch in Colorado. He loved it and so did we! Here is a slideshow of our trip...enjoy!

Visiting Dad at Work

I took Sage up to Eagle to introduce him to Ryan's co-workers and to show him where Daddy is all day! This was a while ago, but I'm just now getting around to posting it!
This was just a cute picture from the other day that I wanted to share!

I wish I would have said...

You know how when you give a speech or toast or get in a confrontation with someone and after the fact you think "I wish I would have said...

I do this all the time. Well, this week we had a surprise party for my dad's retirement/60th birthday. Carly and Jason and Brian and Suzanne couldn't make it, so...I felt I had to say something at the party when my mom opened the mic for roasts or toasts. Now, when I have to give a speech I usually write it down and practice many times before I have to give it. This toast was off the cuff. I have been thinking the last few nights about what I wish I would have said. This is it.

So many men and women got up Thursday night to toast my dad about all of his business successes. They talked about his positive attitude, determination, and never quit attitude. About how he works so hard, helps others out as much as he can, and truely cares about all of the people he works with. I agree with all of these descriptions of Dad. But, what is truely wonderful about him is that as much heart and soul and time and money that he put into each company he built, he put more into his family. His number one priority has always been his family. I have NEVER felt second to his business career. Dad has always put my mom and us kids first. He traveled a lot when we were young and worked late hours, but I can't remember a time that Dad missed a holiday, a birthday, a soccer game, a dance recital, or anything important to us. He made it a point to be there. He always did and still does. As much as dad loves his work and starting new adventures or investments, that comes a distant third to the Lord and his family.
I remember one time when I was in high school and our dance team was performing a father daughter dance for a football game. All the dads would come in shorts and t- shirts to the practices in our school's parking lot. Dad would come with only seconds to spare, straight from work in a suit in the 100 degree weather. But he was there. He made every practice and was a GREAT dancer! I'm sure he had a ton of things to do at work and possibly million dollar deals in the works, but he made it. He was there for me.

I know Carly and Brian probably have similar stories. They would have probably given better toasts then I did at the party. I'm glad I have a blog so I can say what I wish I would have said at the party.
This attitude and lifestyle I have observed by my dad, along with my mom, has made me who I am today. They raised me to know how to prioritize my life. They have always been grounded and thankful for everything they have worked so hard for. I am blessed to have parents like them.
Here are some pictures from the party. Sage's shirt says "Grandpas my Hero".

July 4th Weekend

My new favorite picture!!
We had a great time at Ryan's parents house on Lake Conroe this weekend. Our friends Katie and Philip, Jessica and Danny with son Colt, Amanda and Jeff with daughter Leighton, and Aimee and Mike with son Tyler enjoyed Saturday with us! Ryan's brother, Jacob and Laurie and Laurie's parents were also there in the evening and Mary and Bill, friends of Ryan's parents. It was a full house!!! We were out by the pool, eating tons of food, and watching fireworks at night. The kids had fun and so did the adults. Jean and Dave, Ryan's parents, were so nice to let all of us come and most of us spend the night. The weekend was great! Thanks Jean and Dave!! Here are some of the pictures from the weekend We got Sage in Colt's swimming diapers and swimsuit (both way too big). It was his first time in the pool!! He slept the whole time. I think the bright sun was too much for him.
Sage is still a little too small for this. We just wanted to get a picture in Colts favorite toy.

The BEST Labor and Delivery Nurse!!

Jenny Ellis is Ryan's best freind, Mac's, girlfriend. We were so lucky to have her as our Labor and Delivery Nurse. She did such a good job. Everything was calm, even when we were having complications with Sage's heart rate. She kept us informed and happy the whole labor. I will never be able to thank her enough! I know Jenny will be a part of Sage's life forever. Thank you Jenny for everything you did that day and being such a great friend!

2 Month Well Check

Ryan and I took Sage to his two month well appt on Tuesday. He is 10lbs 12 oz which means he has gained 4lbs since birth. That puts him in the 25 percentile . So he is somewhat smaller than other two month olds. He is now 23 inches long, which means he has grown 3 inches since birth. He is in the 50%, so pretty average. His head is 38 1/2 cm which is 10-25%, so kinda smaller than average. All in all he is a healthy 2 month old boy! He had to get three shots and one medication by mouth. Ryan watched and comforted Sage. I couldn't watch the shots but comforted Sage after it was all over. I have never heard Sage cry that loud and hard. His head was bright red! I hated it. Once he was in Ryan's arms and had his pacifier he was fine. Here are some pictures of him on Tuesday. Notice the two bandaids on his legs.
BEFORE
AFTER(with bandaids)

Some pictures of today. The second one looks like he is dancing! He is smiling so much more now!
