Sage is here!! Ryan and I were blessed with Baby Sage Wednesday April 29 at 2:43 pm. He was 6 lbs 12 oz. (thank goodness not as big as I was thinking) This made him 17 days early.
Sage came at 2:43pm with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. It was scary at first. They had to call in a NICU nurse to help sage breath easier. He was having trouble. The doctor kept reassuring us that everything was going to be ok. She was right! He is great! Ryan and I are so blessed! We had so many visitors come up to the hospital including my sister and her husband Jason, who heard my water broke and got in their car and drove to Houston from Oklahoma city! It was so great and meant so much to us that they were there!
My water broke at 1:00am and I woke up Ryan to start heading to the hospital. We got admitted about 2am and was in for a long day. Thankfully Ciri Dollens, a friend of ours, was able to be my nurse untill her shift ended at 7am. Even more exciting our good friend Jenny Ellis was my nurse all day and for the actual labor! She was amazing. It was great to know that we were being well taken care of!
They checked me when I first got there and then again at 6am. Nothing had changed. They put me on pitocin to speed up the process. That is when I started to really feel contractions. Dr. Cantu (my doctor was out of town) let me have the epidural whenever I wanted. I had it at about 2 cm. I was good from about 9:30am on! My mom and Jean (Ryan's mom) kept reminding me how easy I had it. I was really lucky the epidural took well and I was in very little pain! My parents and Ryans parents were there all day hanging out waiting for Sage to come. Anna, a friend of ours, who is also a nurse, was there too just waiting on Sage to get there.
During the process Jenny, my nurse, started to get a little nervous about how the babies heart rate was looking. It started to look like I may need a c section. We were all worried. Jenny had me do a few things to help the baby, including putting my on oxygen. Thankfully we did everything right and around 2;00 I started feeling alot of pressure. They called the doctor in and I only pushed for 12 minutes!! It was easier than I thought it was going to be! I was lucky.. I know.

Having Sage join our family has been amazing . Tough, but wonderful so far! God has blessed us! He is our little angel and we can't wait for him to grow and learn. We love him so much! Here are a few pictures of the amazing day!

ReplyDeleteYeah for Sage! I am so excited that he is here and I can't wait to get my hands on him when we get back to Houston. I am glad to hear that overall you had a good labor and got that epidural. (I know you were a little concerned about that.) I hope that things are going well at home. The first month is a little overwhelming, but it gets easier I promise. Hang in there, get lots of rest and enjoy every minute with him. I look forward to all your new baby blog posts.
